In business since 2007, Barbara Graceffa is a talented interior decorator and an award-winning teacher, quilter, and artist.  She is a columnist for the Quincy Sun and is currently exhibiting her third one-woman quilt show.

She is also writing two books. Her interior decorating primer, tentatively titled Inside Information: What You Need to Know about Interior Decorating, nears completion.  The second book, If Picasso Was a Quilter, will feature her art quilts and encourages “outside the block” creativity.

Quilt Displays at International Juried Show

In her first competition into a juried show, Barbara’s art quilt “Out on a Limb” was chosen by The Brush Gallery in Lowell, MA to appear in its international exhibit, “Tree, Tree, Tree.” Read the accompanying news article to see her beautiful quilt.

World Quilt Parade

This fall, nine of Barbara’s art quilts will be included in the 2022 World Quilt Parade sponsored by the American Quilters Society. named Barbara Graceffa one of the Ten Top Instructors for 2020. Competing with 74 instructors in her area, the award was based on merit and customer-driven criteria over 25 variables across 5 categories including:

  • Dedication to quality work
  • Outstanding customer service
  • Excellent recommendations from satisfied customers
  • Responsiveness and willingness to engage with customers

Advisory  Boards

Barbara is a member of the Magazine Advisory Community of Dotdash Meredith, America’s largest digital and print publisher and home to brands like Southern Living, Better Homes and Garden, Magnolia Journal, The Spruce, and more. 

She also serves on the Sherwin-Williams Advisory Board, contributing ideas to the betterment of the paint and coatings industry.

New England Quilt Museum Teacher
Based on recommendations from former students, Barbara was certified by the New England Quilt Museum as a member of their teachers registry.

Viewer’s Choice Quilt at Marshfield Fair
Selected by guests at the Marshfield Fair, Barbara was awarded a blue ribbon for Best in Show honors for her Carpenter’s Wheel quilt.

Solo-Exhibit Quilt Shows
Barbara’s quilts were displayed at the Thomas Crane Library in Quincy at a month-long show (see this introductory video) featuring her traditional and art quilts.

She has also held a one-woman show in summer 2020 and is currently exhibiting twenty art quilts at the Milton Public Library through November 12.

Art Competitions
First Prize, University of Massachusetts Boston Upcycling Art Competition
Given photography slides to create an art piece, Barbara’s African wig head took the top cash prize in the campus-wide competition.

First Prize, University of Massachusetts Boston Create an Art Curtain
A concurrent competition, Barbara swept both contests as her red, white, and silver slide and fabric curtain won first place. It is on permanent display in the Campus Center.

Barbara was on the staff of the university for over 35 years.
